April 26, 1961 ~ August 23, 2024
Edward “Eddie” Clarence Raymond, age 63, passed away at Rhea Medical Center on August 23, 2024. He was a life long resident of Rhea County. Eddie was born on April 26, 1961 in Auburn, NY to his parents; Loren Charles Raymond and Alice Nickerson Raymond. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his son; Ethan Raymond, sister; Susan Davis, step-son; Justin Kaylor and nephew; Brandon Raymond.
He is survived by his children; Lindsey Jones (Brad), Jonathan (Cynthia) Raymond, and Julie Dorn (Jamie). Siblings; Barbara Shaver (Gene), Loren (Ricky) Raymond, Nancy Thurman (James), Jackie Pendleton (Henry), Tim Nickerson, John (Robbyn) Raymond, Jimmy (Shelly) Raymond, and Nancy Jordan and grandchildren; Laney, Khrista, Asa, Austin, Aiden, Peyton, Asher, Channing, Madison, Ethan, and Eli.
After only completing the second grade, Eddie started working at a very young age. This created a work ethic in this larger than life man, that could not be touched. Eddie spent over 40 years with Dillard Construction of Dayton. After retiring from there, he went to work for himself, co-owning and operating Monkey Cuts lawn service and excavating. This was the time in his life that Eddie was supposed to slow down and enjoy what he loved. But slowing down was something he simply couldn’t do. Eddie had only one speed and that was WIDE OPEN. He loved family, friends, fellowship and dirt. Honestly, dirt should have probably been the first on the list. Anyone who knew Eddie knows there will never be another one like him. He was always early to everything, so it shouldn’t have been a surprise when he showed up to Heaven before the rest of us. Well Eddie, per your famous words from all of us left behind, “MUST BE NICE.” You will always be loved and missed. Make sure you’re digging the footers for our mansions one day, and make sure those streets of gold are on grade. We love you.
