Eagles Win 68-20 Over Marion

Rhea County Sets School Single Season Record

Evensville, TN -- Rhea County High School football team raced to the finish line with all engines running well as they set new school record with 68 points against Marion County to set single game scoring mark for the Eagles. Seven different Eagles scored touchdowns on the night and Dalton Hampton led the way with three touchdowns.

But that is all in the rear view as they begin playoffs with home game against Knox Fulton. Fulton comes in with 3-7 record and a loss against common opponent Karns 28 to 20. With a win the Eagles will move on to play the winner of the Knox Powell vs Lenoir City game. Knox Powell has a 10-0 record and Lenoir City has a 1-9 record. Powell beat Karns 49-6.

Marion actually had the early lead with a 25 yard touchdown run with 5:59 left in first quarter. Rhea County responded with three consecutive touchdowns before Marion scored their second touchdown on 60 yard run. with 5:37 left in 2nd quarter. Eagles added two more touchdowns to end the half up 32-14.

In the second half, Rhea County flooded the field with reserves and they kept scoring seven different players scores with Hampton scoring three touchdowns. Eagles had some big plays with touchdown runs of 50, 64 and 66 yards in the second half. Eagles finished with 468 yards rushing on the night.

Kyle Carr didn't need to pass and completed 1 of 4 passes with 22 yard completion to Hampton reaching the end zone. Ochoa had six extra point kicks and Cole Ruehling. added 2 extra points. Stat of note is the 9 first downs by Rhea County vs 8 first downs by Marion County.

Leading the Eagles in tackles were Wicks 7, Johnson 5, Gardenhire 5, Fisher 5, Reed 4, Alday 4, Shelfer 4 and Lemons 4.
