Rhea County Record Stands at 5-3-1, Travel to Cleveland on Tuesday, 4/9/24
Friday, April 5th, saw the Eagles travel to Walker Valley for some soccer action. JV started off with a close, tightly contested match the whole game but ended up shy of the win with a 1-0 loss. Varsity match followed with some tough obstacles to overcome again, as four starters were still benched due to injuries. The Eagles battled in the first half to slow down the Mustang’s passing game, but a cross into the middle of the 18 went uncontested and the Mustangs buried it past a diving attempt by Wes Robinson’s hands. A foul inside the box against the Eagles for a slide tackle from behind was called a few minutes later, which resulted in a PK and goal, so the score was 2-0 at halftime for the Mustangs. The Eagles came out and still tried to battle in the second half but struggled with maintaining possession and taking shots. The Mustangs kept up their offensive press and were able to find the back of the net 2 more times to make the final score of 4-0. Eagles record now stands at 5-3-1 for the season. They travel to Cleveland on Tuesday, April 9th and a home game vs. Howard on Thursday, April 11th with JV games starting at 5:30pm and V starting at 7pm both days.
