Rhea County Looks Like Eagles of Old with Rushing Attack August 31, 2020 Dandridge, TN --  Rhea County rebounded from a sluggish opening game oertime 20-14 win at Carter High School with a convincing win 49-24 at Jefferson County on Friday, August 28, 2020.  Lots for practice this week to correct last weeks mistakes, which included 22 penalties and 6 turnovers, worked with only 6 penalties for 25 yard and one fumble on the night.    Eagles prevailed 49-24 as they went almost excusively with the run. The Eagles went with their strength, running the ball.  Dalton Hampton, Ryan Young and freshman Ethan Davis toted the rock 49 times for 387 yards while only passing 3 times for 25 yards.  Hampton scored 3 touchdowns and newcomer Ethan Davis added 2 touchdowns.  Eagles also had 89 yard kickoff return by Jadden Pankey to finish off the 7 touchdowns.  Kicker Cole Ruehling added 7/7 on extra points for the 49 points.  Luke Miller had 3 punts for 84 yards on the night. Coming into the game, Eagles were aware theat Ayden Houston was a very good runner and he did not dissapoint.  For a small 5'9" running back, he was a hard tackle for the Eagles, but after a very productive first half with 19 runs for 146 yards, the Eagles were able to limit Houston to 8 rushes for 45 yards.  Houston had 2 touchdowns on the night and quarterback Cawood had the other.  Patriots added a field goal for their total of 24 points. Expect some work this week on defense as Partiots outgained Eagle 426-412.
