DCS Wins 38-14 On Eight Grade Night vs Harriman

Dayton, TN -- Dayton City took time to honor eighth graders before their last home game and then took the win against Harriman 38-14 after cruising to a 32-0 halftime lead.

Ethan Davis put the Bees on the board first with a 59 yard touchdown run with 2:31 on the first quarter clock and Rex Pendergrass converted the two point attempt for 8-0 lead.

After Harriman was forced the punt, Ethan Davis had the 30 yard return to setup the Bees at the 45 yard line of Blue Devils. Rex Pendergrass turned trouble into yards as he scooped up fumble and rambled 29 yards down to 27 yard line of Harriman. Pendergrass then ran over two defenders on his way to first and goal at the five yard line. Bryce Dupre then hit Aiden McClendon with touchdown pass before Davis added two point conversion early in the second quarter for 16-0 lead.

Blue Devils returned the Emmanuel Martinez kickoff to the 35, where Ethan Davis made the big hit for Bees. Harriman gave up the ball after a couple of plays when Rex Pendergrass ran untouched to hit the quarterback, causing fumble recovered by Christian Moreno at the Devil's 27 yard line. After losing yardage back to the 35 yard line on a sack, it was Bryce Dupre keeping the ball and rolling out and into the endzone for the Bees' third touchdown with 3:50 left until halftime. Pendergrass added two points for 24-0 lead.

Harriman began the next series at their own 45. Devils moved the ball into DCS territory before Rex Pendergrass and Ace Robinson had tackles for loss to force a turnover on towns at the Harriman 46 yard line with only 18 seconds remaining in the half. Dupre hit Pendergrass down to the 29 yard line and then hit Pendergrass on screen pass to take ball down to 15 yard line. Dupre had one more chance and found Sam Stumbo in the endzone all alone at the buzzer for the touchdown. Two point conversion attempt failed and Bees had 30-0 lead at halftime.

Harriman failed onside kick put the Bees in good field position at their 48 yard line. It didn't take long for Ethan Davis to find the endzone for the fifth and last touchdown of the night for the Bees. Davis started up the middle and then shifted over to the far sideline for the 60 yard run. Emmanuel Martinez added the two point conversion for DCS with 5:35 left in the third quarter.

Erin Dunlap gave the Devil fans some excitement as he picked up the kickoff at around the 27 yard line and went into a sea of blue and emerged on the other side somewhow and raced down the field for the first Harriman touchdown of the night to make the score 38-6. Joshua Goins had the recption on two point conversion to bring the score to 38-8 with 5:15 left in third quarter.

DCS was forced to punt on next possession and Blue devils took the punt into Dayton City territory, Erin Dunlap had the 30 yard touchdown run to finish scoring for the game as the two point converion was no good. Final score 38-14, Bees win. DCS fended off a late drive to keep the score intact.

DCS was able to get plenty of reserves into the game in the second half and now look forward to a trip to Rhea Middle School next week to end the regular season.

On defense Rex Pendergrass forced two fumbles, had two tackles and two assisted. Ace Robinson has 7 assisted and 5 unassisted tackles. Ethan Davis had 4 assisted and 2 unassisted tackles.

DCS had 222 yards rushing, with Ethans Davis leading with 122 yards. Bryce Dupress and Rex Pendergrass added 52 and 41 yards respectively. Bryce Dupre had 58 yards passin on the night.
