Barnes to Walton Nets 3 Touchdowns in Sweatbees 30-3 Win
Decatur, TN -- Dayton City School football traveled to Decatur, Tennessee on Thursday, August 22, 2024 for a game against Meigs Middle School. Dayton forced a punt on the first series by Meigs. The Tigers came up with a fumble on first Sweatbee Drive, but Sam Walton got the ball back with a fumble recovery. DCS punted and Meigs moved the ball deep in Sweat Bee territory but lost the ball on a fumble.
Sammy Sanchez had a nice run for touchdown and Walton made the kick for 7-0 lead in the second quarter which stood up for halftime score. Meigs came back with a nice drive for the score and they were successful on the 2-point conversion to take the 8-7 lead wwith 3:53 left in the third quarter.
King had a nice return to set up the next Sweatbee drive. Barnes found Walton for the touchdown pass of 45 yards and the 2 point conversion was good by Barnes for a 15-8 lead with 2:53 left in the 3rd quarter. With 2: With 6:59 left in 4th quarter Barnes found Walton for a 62 yard touchdown pass. Barnes passed for the 2 point conversion and the 23-3 lead. Dayton added a final Barnes to Walton passing touchdown play with 2:28 left in the game with the pass going for 23 yards. Walton added the kick for the final 30-8 margin.
Dayton City is home again on Thursday, August 29, 2024 with 7 pm kickoff on 8th grade night.
