Win Over Oliver Springs Sends Sweatbees to Oneida for Round 2 Game 10/20/22

Dayton, TN -- Dayton hosted a first round game vs Oliver Springs on October 13th with 7 pm kickoff. It did not take long for the Sweatbees to get into the endzone. Heith Barnes scored early with a run and he also added the 2-point conversion as DCS took a 7-0 lead with 7:33 left in the first quarter. Raiden King setup the Sweatbees deep in Bobcat terriorty with fumble recovery. Parker Kauffman scored the short touchdown and quarterback Zack Waller scored the two point conversion for the Sweatbee 16-0 lead with 7:22 left on the first quarter clock. Dayton defense forced a punt with 4:22 showing in the quarter and were set up in good field position. Waller found Barnes for the nice completion to move ball deep into Bobcat territory. Sweatbees used a bit of trickery as Parker Kauffman appeared to be on a long run, when he stopped and found Barnes for the pass completion for first and goal. Tristyan Odum scored the short touchdown before Waller found Kauffman for the 2-point conversion to give the Sweatbees the 24-0 lead with 3:09 on the first quarter clock.

Oliver Spirngs got on board with a short touchdown run with 3:33 left in half and DCS stopped the 2-point conversion and score stayed at to 24-6. DCS took the kickoff back to 45 and on first play from scrimmage, Parker Kauffman took the handoff and outraced defenders to the right sidelines and cruised down the field for 55-yard touchdown run. Bobcats stopped the 2-point conversion and Sweatbees led 30-6 with 3:16 left on 2nd quarter clock. Waller made a big stop on 4th down to give ball back to Sweatbees near midfield. Carlos McCarter had nice run, but a Bobcat stripped the ball and gave possession back to Oliver Springs. Bobcats ran out of time and score stayed 30-6 at the half.

With 3:36 remaining in the 3rd quarter the Sweatbees came up with a fumble recovery as Korey Pelfrey came out of the pile with the ball and Sweatbees were set up around midfield. Sweteres' Parker Kauffman scored on a short touchdown run. Waller added the 2-point conversion for 38-6 lead with 4;12 left in the 3rd quarter. Bobcats scored another touchdown in 4th quarter, but failed on the conversion try for a 38-12 score. Landon Halman had the long touchdown run and Parker Kauffman tacked on the 2-point conversion for the 46-12 lead. Bobcats added a late touchdown and 2-point conversion to make the final score 46-20.

With the win the Sweatbees earned a spot against Oneida on the road on Thursday, October 20th. The Sweatbees are coached by head coach Zack Davis and assistants Jake Miller, Luke Barnes and Landon Thompson.
