Dayton, TN -- Dayton City School lost their Thursday night game to visiting Meigs Middle 48-26. Ethan Davis had three touchdowns and Rex Pendergrass the other touchdown and the lone Sweatbee two point conversion.
Dayton City played with Bryce Dupree not 100 percent after he missed the previous game against Oneida. The loss of one of the top offensive and defensive players hampered the DCS effort on the night.
The Meigs Middle Tigers brought a good team for the fight. Tylan Kraskouskas and Ethan Meadows provided excellent running for the Tigers.
Dayton City fell behind 16-0 in first quarter. Ethan Davis and Ace Robinson had good runs to move the ball to the 3 yard line and Davis put Bees on the board and Rex Pendergrass added two point conversion to cut the lead to 16-8 and the score as the first quarter ended.
In the second quarter Kraskouskas had big 46 yard run down the two yard line and Tigers punched it in for third touchdown and added two point conversion to push lead to 24-8.
Bees responded as Ethan Davis bounced outside and streaked down sidelines for 65 yard touchdown run. Two point conversion was no good and DCS trailed 24-14. Kriskouskas answred the next possession with 56 yard touchddown to push lead to 32-14 after successful conversion and that was the score at halftime.
Ethan Davis had a 65 yard touchdown run to open the second half and DCS pulled to 32-20 but conversion was no good. Meigs took their next possesion from thier own 40 to the endzone with a long drive that put the Tigers up 40-20 after the successful conversion.
DCS wasn't giving up and took their possession to the end zone as Rex Pendergrass scooted around right end for 34 yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 40-26. So Dayton City was down two touchdowns as the fourth quarter began.
Ethan Meadows scored the last touchdown of the game with nice run for the 48-26 lead that was the final score.
On the night Ethan Daivs had 9 carries for 166 yards and Rex Pendergras had 11 carries for 103 yards to lead the offense. Pendergrass added 47 yards on three kickoff returns. Bees had 10 yards in passing on the night.
On defense Ace Robinson and Brayden Grimes had 7 and 6 tackles respectively to lead the Bees in tackles. Rex Pendergrass had three tackles for loss. Christian Moreno had two and Ace Robinson 1 tackle for loss. Luke Datz and Ace Robinson each had fumble recovery.
