February 4, 1947 - August 26, 2024

Gary Wayne Lewis, age 77 of Sale Creek, passed away at his home on Monday, August 26, 2024. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio, on February 4, 1947, the son of the late Kenneth Lewis and Sylvia (Hacker) Lewis who survives him. He was also preceded in death by his son, Steven “Craig” Lewis.

Gary lived in Sale Creek for the past 30 years, had a Bachelor’s degree, retired after 37 years with TVA as a power broker, and was a Mason. He served his country in the US Air Force as a sergeant in Viet Nam and later as a member of the Army National Guard. He was a member of Lake Drive Baptist Church in Sale Creek where he served as a deacon.

In addition to his mother, Gary is survived by his wife of 55 years, Cathy Lewis of Sale Creek; his daughter, Cristy (Teddy) Smith; and his two grandsons, Thomas Wayne Smith (fiancé Breanna McDonald) and Jacob Lewis Smith (fiancé Gracie Turner), all of Sale Creek.

Funeral services for Gary will be in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Bob Schafer officiating. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Chattanooga National Cemetery next to his son on Friday, August 30, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.

The family is being cared for by Vanderwall Funeral home in Dayton, Tennessee, where they will receive friends on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
