Fifth Annual Cancer Event Will Be on September 28th

Dayton, TN -- On September 28th, Johnson's TawKwonDo Academy in Dayton will hold its 5th annual Cancer Event at their studio in the Rhea Towne Place in Dayton. Last year Johnson Taekwondo Academy held a “Kickin’ for a Cure” fundraising event in the parking lot of their school in Dayton. The goal for 2019 is $6,000.00 and money will go to St. Jude's Research Hospital.
The event was a big success as at the end the group stood behind a $5,500.00 check on 2018. The money went to Saint Jude Children’s Network. Almost 12 boxes of wood boards were broken last year.
On the day of the event, Johnson's will have students breaking their boards, performing a demonstration , and having a bake sale. Unique Hair Salon will have hair cuts towards their "Cuts for a Cure".

Being a Martial Artist one of our major tenets is Community. In that we here at JTA understand how impressionable our students are at such a young age. That’s why we believe it’s important to not only to TEACH about how we should contribute and bring about positive change in our community but that we SHOW it. One way we do that is by hosting our annual KIDS KICKIN’ FOR A CURE event every September, with September being National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month it’s only fitting! If you are unfamiliar with this event it is an event hosted by the “KIDS” of JTA to raise money for the “KIDS” of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital! Each year for the past 4 years we have been blessed to have raised a combined total of $15,000 in donations! With this year being our 5th year we can’t wait to see how much we can raise!
HOW DOES THE EVENT WORK?
All month long our students go around asking for donations and in return they get to break real wooden boards the day of the event. The breaking of the boards symbolizes us “putting a break in cancer”.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
In order to maximize our donations we need sponsors to donate a box of boards. The cost of each box is $110 and has 90 boards in each box. Last year we broke almost 12 full boxes of boards. That’s almost 1,000 boards broken in 2 hours!! If you or your business feels led to sponsor a box please leave a message in the comments, private message us, or send us an email! If you would like to sponsor a partial box or partner with someone else or another business we would appreciate that as well! A partial box is $55.
