Lady Eagles Win Exciting 11 Inning Game 6-5 Behind Shaver Pitching and Big Hit by Roberts

Cleveland, TN -- Rhea County High School softball continued their unbeaten season with an 11 inning 6-5 win over a tough Walker Valley team. Lady Eagles fell behind early with first baseman Sierra Brown slamming 2 run home run in first inning and Addy Girard hitting the second Mustang home run in the second inning for three runs to offset the single Lady Eagle run in first inning as Roberts drove home Lakyn Lockhart. Lady Eagles exploded for four runs in the top of the 4th to take a 5-3 lead. Saddie Burton scored rist run on unusual play with double and some major misplays by outfielders enabling Burton to score the run. Lady Eagles scored three more runs with two hits. Ballard, opened with single and was driven home by Wilson line out and then McClure scored on a Gentry double off the base of the left field fence.

Madi Oran opened the home half of fifth with infield ground ball that she beat out after a bobble. She then took third on infield ground out and scored on fly ball to center by Alyssa Davenport. Madilyn Kidd next doubled and scored on a throw down to second base on steal by Brown, who had walked to pull Lady Mustangs even at 5-5. That 5-5 tie would last until the eleventh inning and Walker Valley was done scoring for the game.

Allie Shaver came in to pitch in relief of Chelsea Reel in the 5th and pitched seven shutout innings, giving up 3 hits and 3 walks, while striking out six. Lady Eagles had 14 hits on the evening with 3 by Courtney Wilson and 2 each by Sadie Burton, Emily McClure and Emily Ballard. Lakyn Lockhart scored 3 runs to lead the way for Rhea County.
