Over 218,000 Lights At Rhea County Fairgrounds On Weekends

Evensville, TN -- The Rhea County Fair Drive Through Christmas Lights continue this year with over 218,102 lights and over 130 new light frames. Drive Through Ligh Show continues every Friday, Saturday and Sundy until December There is an expanded walk thru area with light tunnel and a state are with great lighting for christmas pics. On Saturdays only there is chance to meet Santa and take your own pics. Santa will be in the animal barn arean from 6 pm until 9:30 pm on December 5, 12 and 19. There are also wagon rides for $1 per person on Saturdays. To listen to syncronized music the people are to turn radio to 104.5.
Volunteers began working in the middle of September with a small crew of 8 working 6 days a week, usually 6-8 hours each day. Volunteers are always welcome to help even if it's only 1 hour a day. Donations of Christmas stuff, electrical cords or money always appreciated. Money goes to help support the Rhea County Fair.
Around 90,000 lights the first year(estimate) and the 2nd year the number of lights went up to approximately 121,000. Last year number of lights went up to 179,000. Last year around 1768 cars went through the drive through.
Lorrie Horton brought the idea for drive through christmas lights after seeing Camp Jordan's 7 years ago. The idea was to make a smaller version for Rhea County families. Today people come from all around the area, including Knoxville and northern Georgia.
